Biography

Composer, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, holder of the Orders "Parasat" and "Kurmet", a member of Kazakhstan Composers’ Union, one of the organizers and artistic director of the "Dos-Mukasan" ensemble.

Kusainov Murat Kusainuly was born on August 10th, 1948 in the Sharbakty village, Kordai district, Zhambyl region.

Between 1954-1961 he studied at a 7-year school in Sharbakty and graduated with excellence.

From 1961 to 1965 he studied at the 11-year Abay school in Kordai district, and graduated with a silver medal.

From 1965 to 1970 He entered and successfully graduated from the Automation and Telemechanics Department of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute in Almaty (now the   K.Satpayev  National Technical University).

In 1967 19-year-old Murat formed the “Dos-Mukasan”ensemble  together with his universitymates Dosym Suleev, Khamit Sanbayev and Alexander Litvinov.

In 1968 M.Kusainov was awarded the "For the development of virgin lands" medal for his significant work in the student construction teams (SCO).

In 1971 together with the ensemble "Dos-Mukasan" M.Kusainov represented the Republic of Kazakhstan in Tashkent  in the All-Union"Friendship of Peoples" Festival  and won the 1st degree laureate title.

In 1973 together with the "Dos-Mukasan" ensemble  M.Kusainov took part in the All-Union competition of professional performers in Minsk and won the title of laureate.

In addition, by the decision of the jury headed by A. Pakhmutova, the ensemble was awarded a special prize for “the masterful musical arrangement of Soviet composers songs."

In 1973 together with the ensemble "Dos-Mukasan" M.Kusainov received an invitation to the World Festival of Youth and Students in Berlin and won the gold medal.

In 1974 he was awarded the title of laureate of the Komsomol Prize of Kazakhstan as a member of the ensemble "Dos-Mukasan".

From 1975 to 1976, led by M.Kusainov, the ensemble "Dos-Mukasan" performed in Germany, Mongolia,  and some other foreign countries.

One of the most significant achievments in M. Kusainov's life was his tour to North and South America during 1976-1977 with the"Dos-Mukasan"ensemble. 180 concerts were given in 6 months, and the ensemble returned to the country with great success.

In 1976 M.Kusainov entered the composition department of the Kurmangazy State Conservatory and was accepted as a student in the class of Professor G.Zhubanova.

In 1978, led by M.Kusainov, the"Dos-Mukasan" ensemble travelled to Turkey, held about 60 concerts in Izmir.

During 1978-1990, the ensemble did many artistic performances in different parts of the country, as well as in some neighbouring countries as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, the Baltics, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and etc. They also visited many foreign countries, including Czechoslovakia, Afghanistan and Mongolia, and returned with great success.

In 1983, Murat Kusainov successfully graduated from the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory and received a diploma in composition.

In 1985, the "Dos-Mukasan" ensemble, led by M.Kusainov, took part in the XII World Festival of youth and students in Moscow and was awarded a special diploma.

In 1991, under the leadership of M. Kusainov, the first Independent Music Center "Auen" was established in Kazakhstan.

In 1993, by the decree of the president of Kazakhstan, the composer Murat Kusainov was awarded honorary title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan" for his creative achievements and significant work for the Kazakh pop culture.

In 1995, M. Kusainov became a member of the Composers’ Union of  Kazakhstan.

For significant work in the presentation of new capital -Astana in 1998 He was awarded "Astana" medal .

In 1998, he was elected as a corresponding member of the Kazakhstan’s Arts  Academy .

In 2002, by the decree of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s president, the chairman of the "Auen"Music Center, composer Murat Kusainov, was awarded with the "Kurmet" order.

In 2008, a bronze sculpture monument dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the ensemble was opened in Pavlodar for the first time in the Republic.

 By the decree of the president in 2008, composer Murat Kusainov was awarded the Order of "Parasat" for many years of creative achievements and special merits in the field of art.

In 2010, "Dos-Mukasan" star was presented on the central alley in Karaganda.

In 2016, by the decree of the president, composer Murat Kusainov was awarded the honorary title "Honored worker of Kazakhstan".

In 2017-18, the ensemble" Dos-Mukasan " under the leadership of M. Kusainov held solemn concerts dedicated to the 50th anniversary in Almaty, Nur-Sultan and Atyrau.

 In 2018, Atyrau hosted the opening ceremony of the sculptural composition "Dos-Mukasan" on the Bank of the Ural River in honor of the ensemble.

In 2019, a personal star of M. Kusainov was presented to cultural and artistic figures in Taraz.

In 2022, due to the 55th anniversary of the ensemble, The Mayor's Office of Almaty plans to open  "Dos-Mukasan" alley on one of the central streets of the city.

In 2022, M. Kusainov, together with the "Dos-Mukasan" ensemble , plans a festive concert in the Republican Concert Hall in Almaty with the participation of famous ensembles and singers from the CIS countries in honor of the 55th anniversary of the ensemble.
